Benoît Mariage had his breakthrough directing numerous episodes of the famous Belgian show : « Strip-Tease ». A documentary series dealing mainly with common people and moments of their everyday life.
Yearning to translate this experience from documentary to fiction, he directed his first short : « The signalman » which was awarded in 1997 at the International Critic’s Week in Cannes.
Two years later, his first feature « The Carriers Are Waiting » was screened at Cannes’ Directors Fortinght. Starring the young Benoit Poelvoorde, this bittersweet film was nominated at the French academy of Césars and sold worldwide.
His next film : « The Missing Half » was screened at the Sundance festival. He reunited with Benoit Poelvoorde who meanwhile became an A list French actor for « Cowboy » (2OO7) his third film.
His nest film : « Scouting for Zebras » produced by Boucan Films was a populaire success, becoming the number one Belgian French speaking film of 2014. He then teamed up with the irreverent François Damiens and co-wrote « Dany ». Benoît Mariage is currently working on : « Saint-François de Molenbeek ».
